ttu cash family sports nutrition center

The Cash Family Sports Nutrition Center at Texas Tech University is a state-of-the-art facility designed to elevate the nutritional support available to student-athletes. This center embodies a thoughtful blend of modern architecture and functional design, creating a dedicated environment to enhance athlete health and performance.

About This Project

The design emphasizes transparency and openness, featuring abundant natural light and clean, contemporary lines that foster an energizing and welcoming atmosphere. Durable, high-quality materials ensure longevity and ease of maintenance while supporting the center’s active daily use.

Inside, specialized nutrition services are seamlessly integrated with consultation spaces, food preparation areas, and gathering zones, all planned to promote efficient workflows and athlete engagement. The facility is designed not only to serve practical needs but also to inspire wellness and team cohesion.

A standout feature of the center is the Dean and Christi Quinn Education Kitchen, which includes seven residential cooking stations. This innovative space is believed to be the first of its kind on an athletic campus, dedicated solely to student-athletes. The kitchen supports Texas Tech’s nutritional staff in developing a comprehensive cooking curriculum focused on food preparation, storage, and nutrition basics tailored to athletes’ needs. The curriculum will be complemented by live cooking demonstrations from accomplished chefs in the Lubbock community, enhancing culinary education and promoting healthy eating habits.

Texas Tech student-athletes officially stepped foot in the Cash Family Sports Nutrition Center on Monday, February 17, 2020, marking the grand opening of this facility, which now serves as the day-to-day dining location for the university’s more than 400 student-athletes. The center was fully funded through philanthropic donations to The Campaign for Fearless Champions, a program dedicated to advancing the future of Texas Tech Athletics.

As Director of Athletics Kirby Hocutt noted, β€œThe Cash Family Sports Nutrition Center will drastically enhance the nutritional resources we are able to provide our student-athletes. From a nutrition perspective, this facility is a game-changer for us as a department, and we couldn't be more thankful to the Cash family and the many donors who stepped up and partnered with us to make this project a reality.”
