south plains food bank
The new South Plains Food Bank facility in Lubbock, Texas, represents a transformative expansion in the organizationβs mission to combat food insecurity across the region. Funded in part by the generous support of the late J.T. and Margaret Talkington, this $10 million facility significantly enhances operational capacity and service delivery for communities in need.
About This Project
The design includes 31,384 SF of office and support spaces, paired with 35,057 SF of dedicated warehouse space for freezer, cooler, and dry storage. Key areas of focus during the design phase included demonstration kitchens for education and outreach, flexible meeting rooms, well-organized volunteer support areas, and a covered drive-thru designed for efficient pickup and distribution. With this new facility, the South Plains Food Bank has dramatically increased its ability to deliver fresh, nutritious meals to Lubbock and the surrounding areas, strengthening its role as a critical community resource.
