About This Project

In partnership with Dewberry, the City of Lubbock Police Substations project consists of three strategically located facilities designed to enhance community policing and public safety. The design balances security and functionality with an inviting, approachable civic presence, fostering strong community connections.

Each substation features durable materials such as masonry and metal panels, selected for their longevity and low maintenance, combined with large windows and thoughtful site orientation to maximize natural light and transparency. The design carefully integrates secure operational zones while maintaining accessible public areas that encourage community engagement.

Interior layouts prioritize flexibility and efficiency, supporting a range of administrative and support functions while promoting collaboration among officers and staff. The result is a set of substations that are not only functional and secure but also embody a sense of trust and openness essential for modern public safety facilities.

Notably, this project was recognized with the 2023 Officer Magazine Station Design Award, a prestigious honor that celebrates excellence and innovation in police facility design. This award highlights the project’s success in achieving a balance of security, community connection, and architectural quality.
