Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts and Sciences
The Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts and Sciences is West Texasβ largest dedicated performance venue and a landmark cultural destination that unites the regionβs thriving arts community. Home to the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra and Ballet Lubbock, the Hall also welcomes a wide array of national touring productions in music, theater, and dance. This LEED-certified facility represents a visionary investment in the future of the performing arts in Lubbock and beyond.
About This Project
A collaboration between Diamond Schmitt (Design Architect) and Parkhill (Architect of Record), with support from MWM Architects, Inc., the project reflects the spirit and landscape of West Texas. The buildingβs striking exterior draws inspiration from the prismatic, layered rock formations of nearby canyons, while the interior transitions from expansive, light-filled public spaces into intimate performance venues. These include the grand 2,297-seat Helen DeVitt Jones Theater and the versatile 415-seat Crickets Theater. Ground-level glass faΓ§ades foster a strong connection between interior and exterior, creating an open, welcoming experience for visitors.
Responding to site-specific challengesβsuch as extreme heat and its location in a floodplainβthe design delivers world-class acoustics, technical precision, and architectural innovation. Since its completion in 2021, Buddy Holly Hall has become a flagship cultural venue, earning international recognition for design excellence and construction achievement.
