Principal Architect
Stephen Faulk, AIA, has a Bachelor of Architecture Design Option degree from Texas Tech University, as well as a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and a Master of Architecture in Urban Design from Harvard’s Graduate School of Design.
Stephen began practicing architecture in 1971 and worked at several different architectural firms while in school, including the Boston Office of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. In 1983, he started his own architecture firm in Boston - Stephen L. Faulk Architects, Inc. In 1991, Stephen moved back to Texas and assumed a role as a Project Architect at MWM Architects, becoming a Principal in 2006.
Stephen is an active member in the American Institute of Architects, the Texas Society of Architects, and the Lubbock AIA, and has won numerous awards and honors in his career including the Progressive Architecture Design Award, two Texas Society of Architects Honor Awards, a Boston Society of Architects “Urban Design Citation,” a Providence Preservation Award, four Lubbock AIA Citation Awards, and two American Architecture Awards from the Chicago Athenaeum and the European Centre. Stephen is a registered architect in Texas, Massachusetts, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Connecticut, and is certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards. He works in the Religious, Healthcare, Higher Education, Performing Arts, Office, and Civic architectural markets.
While with MWM, Stephen has designed numerous projects in and around Lubbock including the Lubbock Christian School, numerous projects for the Lubbock ISD, The Levelland Main Fire Station, the Bayer American Museum of Agriculture, two City of Lubbock Libraries, three City of Lubbock Police Substations, the May 11, 1970 Lubbock Tornado Memorial, and the Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts and Sciences. Stephen has also done over 35 projects for Texas Tech University including most of the buildings that support Jones AT&T Stadium, and Lubbock Christian University including their LEED Platinum Cardwell Welcome Center.
