Berkeley, California. The project is comprised of two types of housing. There are 56 units in three-story wood frame buildings in townhouse over flat configuration and 19 apartment units in an adaptive reuse of the existing three-story high school classroom building. The final configuration of the buildings and site was worked out by MWM in a series of planning sessions conducted with residents, city planning and university staff.
The Project, which is configured around the mature trees in an existing central open space, provides volleyball, tot lot and picnic area, and at the same time, fits into the surrounding residential neighborhood.
