| Manteca,
California. The City of Manteca retained MWM to program and design the
masterplan for the relocation of all the current City offices into new
quarters. During the selection process, MWM challenged the City representatives
to vision a new building with 2 flrs., positioned in front of the current
buildings, covering an existing parking lot and one of the many detached
buildings. |
Republic
of Palau. MWM has been awarded the task of designing a new national museum
to be located On the islands of Palau. The particular Palauan cultural
element MWM had in mind is the Palauan canoe. The Palauan canoe is a vessel
with outrigger support. The metaphor here is that the museum is a vessel
of knowledge, containing art works. The outrigger portions (pontoon or
float) of the building are support components (gift shop, office, outdoor
cafe, potential expansion, etc.). |
